Norman Kirk Courts

Norman Kirk Courts, corner of Brougham and Strickland Streets, Sydenham, Christchurch.This Christchurch City Council housing development was named in memory of The Right Honourable Norman Kirk, Prime Minister of New Zealand 1972-1974. The project was officially opened by his widow, Dame Ruth Kirk on 14 May 1977. At the opening the Mayor of Christchurch, Hamish Hay, made a plea to the Government for more help in urban renewal.
