The opening ceremony for the Girls' Hostel, Christchurch Technical College
29 April 1913
The Hostel is located at Sullivan Avenue, Woolston. "On April 29 the Hon R. H. Rhodes opened the Girls' Hostel established by the Board of Governors of the Christchurch Technical College. The hostel is a large and imposing two-storey brick building, with black and white facings. It stands in a block of land at Woolston containing eleven acres, which have been laid out in lawns, gardens, tennis courts and playgrounds. Nurses' Home, Christchurch Hospital

The nurses' home, designed by J. C. Maddison and built in 1894, stood on "Hospital Corner" - the corner of Oxford Terrace and Riccarton Avenue Postcard P. T. [Post & Telegraph] Series 99.
