Sunland Bread deliveries

Mr Gwynne's father delivered bread for Sunland. The bakery was in Fitzgerald Avenue where this photo was taken. Left to.R.ight: Hector Sunderland (one of the bakery owner) , unknown, and Herbert Gwynne driving horse, Pansy. Sunland Bread was owned by the Sunderland Brothers and the bakery was at 286 Fitzgerald Avenue.

The photo is hard to date exactly but it is not later than mid 1925 when the new national car number plates were issued. The car on the left still has a Christchurch plate.

A delivery wagon leaving the Junction Hotel, Rangiora, North Canterbury

Circa 1900

Built in 1880, the hotel's facade fell down in an earthquake in 1922. Note horse and gig, and Hill & Scott, solicitors, at left
