Shows Kathleen Himiona (nee Lafferty) and Mary Hapuku - Housewives Boycott.

I believe that this was in relation to the Housewives boycott over monopolies pushing up prices. Items such as ice cream and chocolate biscuits were boycotted and the campaign went nationwide. Consumers were unhappy and the movement sent a clear message to the company involved ‘Watties’ by way of reducing their profits.
