These photos are of the girls from Papanui Technical High School. They may be the Rangiora Youth Recreational Club. The girls were doing a trip around Banks Peninsula in 1948. They were mostly taken by or featuring my mother Dorothy Lott (as she was then).

Sign of the Takahe under construction

Circa 1927

This was built in stages and took over thirty years to complete. Harry Ell had earmarked the site as early as 1904 but building did not commence until 1918. The completed lower floor was opened in 1920 as the Tram Terminus Resthouse.
