Sockburn Recreation Cente
1980s
We would always have a Gala Day at all the Swimming Pools under the Paparua County Council in January each year before the schools went back. We had them at Sockburn, Halswell and the Templeton Pools . The above photo's were at the Sockburn Recreation Centre Pool. On those days we would have a free sausage sizzle, competitions and a disco which was always run by Ishwa Ganda who was a Councillor at the time, and he was assisted by his brother Barat. Over 2500 attended on the above days.
