Raymond Comfort and friends

January 1965

In the sandhills at the end of Jervois Street. South Brighton, Christchurch.
Raymond Comfort (left in picture), member of Midshore Boardriders, built the surfhut with his friends. Unfortunately it was later burnt down by some hooligans. Raymond later abandoned his surfing to become a preacher in the Cathedral Square and also wrote a book "My Friends Are Dying" in response to the growing drug problem after that time. He now lives in USA preaching there.

Sumner at high tide

15 October 2021

This was taken at Sumner at high tide. There had been some bad weather that had washed tree trunks and limbs up into the beach. Some one turned this debris in to a house on the beach. I don't know how long it has been there before I saw it, but it was in use. It was the last Saturday before school went back. Good weather and the beach was popular.
