Cricket at Rakautara
1970s
"Christchurch families enjoying a break just north of Kaikoura at Rakautara. We pronounced it 'Ra-cow-tra' back then. Now I know different and love working on the correct pronunciation. My uncle had a bach here where we took many holidays. My dad 'Ron' is the one with the camera. Penny, Sally, John and George play cricket in the background. The Commonwealth Games sticker on the back of the Austin 40 shows we are a Christchurch family and it must be around the mid 1970s." - Contributor's note
