Elephant race near Papanui Shopping Centre

Elephant race along a main street near Papanui Shopping Centre during a fundraiser for intellectually disabled children. The riders are Mrs Valerie Young (leading), followed by Mr Martin Hobby a Waimairi County councillor and Mr Colin Curragh president of the Canterbury Intellectually Handicapped Children's Society. Mrs Valerie Young goes on to win the race.

A race between a Go-kart, a Lotus Seven and a 750cc Honda

A go-kart, a Lotus Seven car, and a 750cc Honda motorcycle at Ruapuna Speedway ahead of a six lap race. The car is being driven by "Star" reporter Colin Bryant, the go-kart by Max Haydon of NZBC and the motorcycle by Euan Cameron. The 750cc Honda motorcycle came first, the go-kart came second and the Lotus Seven third.

Man versus cyclist versus horse
26 February 1966
All Black winger Bill Birtwistle, the pacer horse On Probation, and cyclist Tino Tabak lining up at the start of a 110 yard race at Belfast. Bill Birtwistle won the race, On Probation came second and Tino Tabak came third.
