Meeting of the Brackenfield Hunt at Peveral Place, May 1889

1889

A meeting of the Brackenfield Hunt held at Peveral Place May 1889. The Master of the hounds was J B Starkey and the Huntsman J B Parsons. The young man on the pony was probably one of the younger [Mulcock] sons, possibly William, who would have been 10 at the time. Next to him with the bow tie could be either Frederick (25) or Joseph (24).

Hunting on the Denniston/Stockton Area

1940s

This depicts a culture of hunting in the rugged out-back mountains of the NZ West Coast in the Denniston-Stockton Plateau area. It was/is an acceptable culture to hunt wild food to feed the family. My family are from the area and this was taken from a successful hunting trip.
