Progress of building at the RNZAF Flying Training School.
1936
As part of his Public Works Statement for 1937, the Hon. R. Semple (1873-1955), Minister of Public Works, said that one of the major undertakings during the previous year had been the improvement of Wigram in line with the projected expansion of the Royal New Zealand Air Force. Until 1936 unemployed labour was used, but after this "a change-over to regular public works conditions and procedure greatly accelerated the progress of the work" Two new hangars and workshop are shown in the foreground, with an older workshop, hangars and other buildings behind at Wigram aerodrome.
