Family go-kart

2 January 1982

Small girl pushing her brother in a go-kart.
Contributor's note: "My niece pushing her older brother in the family kart that my father built for my brothers. Later modified for me with steering wheel and bonnet. Note provisions for the trip packed in the back. No protection from sun. Dad's tomatoes doing well against the house."

Highly commended: 2013 Christchurch City Libraries Photo Hunt.

Judge's comment: "The images give us a real sense of how the family lived their life. It was interesting to see what events were chosen as important moments, holidays, snow, learning to ride a bike, the simple pleasures of sharing a meal or a BBQ and family interactions in their lounge."
