Marching between Wigram Air Force base and Harewood

1940s

"My father often regaled us of tales of the many marches between Wigram Air Force base where he was stationed as a Leading Aircraftsman and Harewood (site of the current ChCh International Airport). He spoke of hot nor-west days, freezing cold and often with full packs. One of these marches took place on the 13th July 1945 the day before the big snow. He said they were so glad they marched the day before. He is third in line in the centre column." - Contributor's note
