Eleanor Upritchard in Ambulance Driver uniform
1939
My mother Eleanor Phyllis Clarkson, nee Upritchard, as a volunteer ambulance driver. She was an excellent driver who got her license in her teens and, according to reports, drove a very sporty American Willys Whippet car. Unfortunately I do not have a photo of the car (or even better the car itself!)
