Solidarity Grid by Mischa Kuball

The 9th of 21 street lamps installed as part of Mischa Kuball’s Solidarity Grid. Its installation was celebrated in November 2014. Especially created for Solidarity Grid, the Wuhan street lamp is an elaborate totem-pole featuring traditional Chinese floral designs and golden cranes. Christchurch and Wuhan are Sister Cities, having signed a Friendship City Agreement in April 2006. The donated street lamp is a meaningful gift from Wuhan as the cities approached the 10th anniversary of this relationship.
