Yo-Yo Ma performs free concert, Avon River

American cellist, Yo-Yo Ma, performs on the banks of the Avon River with the audience gathered on the opposite, Oxford Terrace side. Tarāpuka / Black-billed gulls are also part of the audience.
Ma plays Bach's Cello Suite No.1.

This was the first time the annual public fireworks event at New Brighton was held in winter, after Matariki was made a public holiday.
The band performed through the sunset.
