Floral display in a shop window for the Royal Visit

1953

My father had a camera and enjoyed taking colour slides. He lived in Burwood in the 1950s and then in Shirley after his marriage in April 1956. He worked as an auto-electrician at Eastmonds and then at Matthews Engineering. Taken by my father John Abernethy with colour-slide film and printed from a Kodak transparency. The former Avon Cinema is on the left and the Clarendon Hotel, where the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh stayed, on the right on the corner of Worcester Street and Oxford Terrace.
