Neighbours in Melrose Street during the 1945 Snowstorm
14 July 1945
On the 13 July 1945 there was a howling North West gale and the next morning the City of Christchurch and the Canterbury Province woke up to three feet of snow. Schools were closed for a week and the power was cut off, bur a lot of fun was had by the children. Melrose St was very busy with neighbours enjoying throwing snowballs and building snowmen at number 21.
