The name Standard supposedly was coined by the company founder Reginald Maudslay, because he wanted a car built to the highest standards. The name was sued by several dozen American car makers as well. Reginald Maudslay was a cousin of Cyril Maudslay who founded the Maudslay Motor Company, and was a great grandson of Henry Maudslay who is regarded as the founding father of machine tool technology.

Cool, i never knew chch assembled cars!
