Laying the foundation stone of the new Methodist Sunday School, Rugby Street
8 May 1902
The original church was burned down in 1902, by which time it had become the Sunday school in St Albans Lane (now Rugby Street). With insurance money available, rebuilding of a new school and hall on the site was begun almost immediately. The second stone was laid by Mr C W Turner, former superintendent of the school and one of the Trustees for the present building, in the erection of which he has taken a deep and active interest.
