Bull Sculptures

July 2012

After the earthquakes, these two bull sculptures by Michael Parekowhai were placed on this site which was chosen by the sculptor. In the building opposite there was a red, carved grand piano, which was a part of the artwork which had been displayed in the Venice Biennale. During the time during which these two sculptures were displayed, recitals were presented on the carved piano. The sculpture of the bull standing on the piano is now located outside the Christchurch Art Gallery.

Fond memories

2006

2006 was my first year in New Zealand, and consequently Christchurch - my current home. I was lucky enough to find the Arts Centre empty that sunny Sunday morning, maybe because it was 7.00 am. The sculpture really drew me to it and the picture pretty much took itself. Fond memories.
