"Photo taken at the family home on Montreal Street. The tallest girl was born in 1917, the shorter in 1918 and the younger brother in 1924. There girls are in brown pleated school gym frocks, white blouses and brown tie and panama straw hats. They walked to St Joseph's Cathedral School in Barbadoes Street, walking along Moorhouse Avenue. There were no traffic lights, vehicles were horse driven and lots of horse manure dropped on the Avenue. People rode bikes which were expensive." - Contributor's note
