James Huston
James Huston
"Studio photo taken of James Huston on his wedding day to Hannah sometimes called Honora, 21 January 1888 at the Holy Trinity Church Lyttelton. Families had to travel to Christchurch to have studio photos taken, which made the wedding day a very long day. Photographic studios did business in rooms in Lyttelton so it's possible the photographer came to Lyttelton to take the photo. Note the very wide silk tie and starched shirt collar. James Huston was well over 6 feet tall. He saved 100 gold sovereigns to buy the family house in Lyttelton in Winchester Street" - Contributor's note
