"These….photos of the Christchurch Botanic Gardens were taken by Alleyne Cook. Alleyne was at Burnham training for what was to become the J-Force (peacekeeping in Japan after WWII). When on leave , he would come up to Christchurch and experiment with his new camera. Alleyne was my father, 1924-2019." - Contributor's note
