Railway line anti-tank barrier

Railway line anti-tank barrier
According to Ian Hill of the Department of Conservation, this structure on the former Little River railway line was built to prevent enemy tanks from using the line. Metal rails would have forced the tank off the railway line and onto the marshy lowland on either side. The line of trees in the background mark the anti-tank ditch that branched off the Halswell River.
