Interesting photo of a Christchurch Fire Board (as the service was known from 1907 to 1976) personnel, maybe in a management role given his suit with a fire board insignia on his blazer pocket, standing on the footpath outside an active burning building amidst smoke, and soot, framed by hoses running up and along the footpath, without any kind of standard protective hat, as would be standard today.
