Shand Crescent Pump House mural - Riccarton

November 2019

Mural created by the Riccarton SafeGrowth Neighbourhood Facilitator Team with support from Christchurch City Council. Located on the fountain pump house at Shand Crescent Reserve in Riccarton. From the Riccarton SafeGrowth Neighbourhood Facilitator Team: "The Riccarton SafeGrowth Neighbourhood Facilitator Team delivered a wonderful event to activate and engage their neighbourhood on Saturday 11 November. The fountain pump house in Shand Crescent Reserve was a drab structure that attracted graffiti. The Team gathered mural ideas from residents on the theme of "happiness" and our wonderful artist Liselle Atlas Silver themed the ideas into the final mural. Neighbours and passers by stopped by throughout the day to paint, have a coffee and some BBQ and salad, or just to listen to the excellent music by Yellow. Thanks to Samuel and the CHCH101 team who partnered with us; Richard of City Care, who gave us access to toilets and helped in many other ways; Kelly-Anne of Elsies Coffee Stop, who kept us supplied with excellent hot drinks; and Christchurch City Council, for allowing us to paint the pump house. A very special and huge thank you goes to New Zealand Red Cross, who funded the SafeGrowth Neighbourhood Facilitator Training and have made our work possible. But most of all, thanks to the Riccarton SafeGrowth Team and the many people who took part - you're all legends!
