John Stanley & family in the bullock cart
John & Mary Stanley, who came to Christchurch in 1850 on the 'Randolph', with family in the bullock cart & collier, Cathedral Square 1865. John Stanley moved to Harewood where he planted what would become the oldest commercial orchard in Canterbury called Broadway (then renamed Shenley in 1917 by the new owners). He & his wife are buried in St James, Harewood churchyard.
