Contributor’s note: “My late father Gideon Tait. He was appointed in control of all security for the Commonwealth Games in Christchurch 1974. He always said this was one of the highlights of his career”.
A newspaper article from the 21st of October 1973 states that Chief Superintendent Gideon Tait will control all security arrangements and is a member of the Games Organising Committee. He will also compete in the 100m and 200m sprints as well as hammer throw and discus.
