Boogie boarding at North Beach
Boogie boarding at North Beach
Contributor’s note: “Craig and Sue boogie boarding at North Beach, Christchurch, 2001. Learning to ride the waves. My partner is Canadian. While he grew up next to the Great Lakes, which can sometimes seem a bit like a big ocean, he had never swum in the salty sea with tidal waves. That is, until he visited New Zealand with me. I grew up in Christchurch where the ocean was always close. It seems unfathomable that you could get to 50 years of age and not have swum in the sea. So, what better introduction than with the thrill and ride of the surf on a boogie board, and with the two of us on the same wave. My Canadian souvenir was the oldest playing in the small waves that first day and many after. You are never too old to learn and live new experiences”.
Highly Commended in the People category of 2023 Christchurch City Libraries Photo Hunt.
