Views from Governor's Bay Jetty
Views from Governor's Bay Jetty
Contributor’s note: “This collage of 3 photos was taken at the newly opened Governors Bay Jetty in early 2023. The top photo is the view taken from the jetty looking back at the tree lined shore in front of Governors Bay and with the Summit towards the Sign of the Kiwi in the background. A second photo shows the morning sunlight shining on the jetty and what remains of an old boat shed that was destroyed in a fire many years ago. The third photo shows a boat anchored just beyond the jetty. If this photo wins a prize, I would it like to donate it to the Secretary of the Governors Bay Save the Jetty Trust Board. (Louisa Eades). Louisa has contributed a phenomenal amount of her time and effort over several years to make the jetty rebuild a reality. Working with other Board trustees and the community/stakeholders she has engaged in fundraising and organising activities required to progress the rebuild project. We owe her especially and her colleagues a huge debt of gratitude. I would encourage Christchurch people to visit the Governors Bay Jetty for a lovely walk/day out. If you want to learn more about the jetty or about how you can donate to the outstanding fundraising for the rebuild, please visit the Save the Jetty website at the following link: https://www.savethejetty.org/”.
