Handmade Maa Durga idol
Handmade Maa Durga idol
I made this Maa Durga idol back in 2019 here in Christchurch with oven baked clay. Each ornaments and jewellery is handmade. It took me almost 4 months to finish. We have been worshipping her every year in the 7th day of Durga Puja festival in October. My husband Premjit Tarafdar has learned to do the Puja and he has been doing the rituals all along since she was made. Durga Puja is one of the main celebrations in West Bengal, India. This auspicious occasion marks the triumph of good over evil and is celebrated with immense joy over 10 days.
