FOCYS Members and Pacific Trust Canterbury at the FOCYS Forum
The one day FOCYS Forum for Pacific youth in Christchurch on 23 March 2013 was run by the Fanau Ola Canterbury Youth Sector (FOCYS). FOCYS had been established in September 2012 to grow confident and informed Pacific young people in the region by advising Pacific Trust Canterbury. The 154 young people who attended ranked what mattered most in their life: they said Family - 1st; Education - 2nd , Health - 3rd; Spirituality and Culture 4th = ; Housing - 5th; Socialising - 6th . Out of the 108 young people who answered this next question, 67 (57%) said they had education plans for themselves and 19 (16%) said no. 32 (27%) said maybe. These insights and the data shared by the young people that day was to be important information for Pacific youth health planning, this was not to reach its full potential due to the instability at PTC and the subsequent liquidation.
