Sacred Heart Debutantes
Sacred Heart Debutantes
This photo was taken at the Winter Gardens on Armagh Street. The Debutantes were “presented” to the 4th Catholic Bishop of Christchurch, Edward Michael Joyce. The Debutantes were trained by well known Ballroom dancing teachers Mr & Mrs Wilson. The Debutantes curtsied individually to the Bishop and then danced the Grand March followed by a “grand curtsey” (en mass) prior to the recreational part of the ball following (an English Colonial Tradition).
