A Day in Town

1949

Margaret May Leader (now Kaiser) had a day in town with her mum and I remember a ride on the tram. (See Background). I wore white boots until school started because my mother wanted my feet to grow properly! double knotted. I do remember the cotton socks with 1 or 2 bands of colour round the top (before nylon). I loved choosing the colours but they got holes. All woollen hat, dress and cardigan, I always went out in a different hat!
