Ready to go out

1949-1950

Margaret May Leader (now Kaiser) about 2.5 yrs, taken in Richmond, Christchurch on our front porch – no terraces or patios then. I was always properly attired when going out – white boots, gloves, coat, hat and reins. My mother had a coat machinest and a sewer and could implement ideas she saw so she probably made most of my coats, hats and suits. She was also a prolific hand knitter and could make all my cardis and dress gloves – she had no money to buy them but was very skilled, but she actually hated sewing as I grew older.
