First Communion Group, Sacred Heart and St Joseph's Cathedral

1902

These children were educated by the Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions (Notre Dame de Missions). This photo was taken in the hall of Sacred Heart College at the First Communion Breakfast. The boys wore a light blue sash, the girls work flowered headbands. Much training in procedures followed this very special sacramental tradition in the Catholic Church. Many of these children still keep track of one another through kiwi networks.
