View of a man with a dog standing on a dirt road, alongside the Heathcote River. Riverlaw House is visible in the trees.

Handwritten annotation on reverse reads: “Photo ex Museum. Messers F. Bradley & Co. Box 374 Christchurch (Photographic Publishers). Views and Landscapes of N.Z. No 24 View on the Heathcote. This view is taken from near the bridge at Opawa. Gives a good general idea of the scenery prevailing on the north side of the rangers bordering Lyttelton Harbour. And among the massive trees is Riverlaw(n), the residence of H. P. Murray-Anysley, ESQ.”
