A new looking retort house at the Christchurch Gas Coal and Coke Company works around 1909.
Contributor's note: "My Grandfather J.H.G Shaw saved these old slides from gasworks during closure of Gasworks. Part of the J.H.G Shaw & J.C Tarrant glass slide collection now owned by me. The collection shows the history of Coal Gas and some of early ChCh gasworks, approximately 1900-1910."
