Street art by Jacob Yikes
View of street art by Jacob Yikes on Distinction Hotel.
Contributor's note: "Jacob Yikes' massive 50+ metre high mural on the side of Distinction Hotel is Aotearoa's tallest mural - and it is a sight to behold! Reaching high into the air, the work is packed with Jacob Yikes' signature surreal style - filled with universal and personal symbolism (the butterfly representative of personal evolution), the work is beguiling and alluring, inviting the viewer into an oversized world...
Created for the 2025 Flare Ōtautahi Street Art Festival, the work began in early February 2025, with a combination of abseilers, giant boom lifts and scissor lifts to reach the necessary heights. The work towers above the city, a massive new landmark that stops passersby in their tracks.
Yikes' choice of rich colours and fine details creates a striking impact." Info from Watch this Space.
