Avonside Girls' High School drill display
Drill display in front of the main building at Avonside Girls' High School.
Contributors note: "THE DRILL DISPLAY, 1935. At the end of last year, on December 14th, a Drill Display was held in the school grounds and proved to be a great success. The day was exceptionally fine; many visitors came to see the drill and making purchases from the various stalls attractively set out under the trees. Afternoon tea served in the open air was also much enjoyed. A varied programme had been arranged. The work of the pupils in forming the school monogram was much admired, as was the massed drill performed by the ·whole school. Photographs of these appear in the magazine. This photo of 1935 Drill day taken in front of the main block on the Avonside Drive site appeared in the 1935 school magazine with the article above. Drill day was when the girls showed of their athleticism as a complete school. Drill was PE and Gymnastics and taught by the Drill Mistress Miss G Gebbie."
