Reproduction of HMNZS Canterbury (L421) ship’s bell in the Christchurch City Council offices, gifted by the New Zealand Navy in recognition of the close bond formed between the ship and the city during the 2011 earthquake response.
Contributors note: "HMNZS Canterbury (L421) ship bell, displayed in the Christchurch City Council office on Hereford Street. The reverse bears the inscription: ‘HMNZS Canterbury L421. Presented to the City of Ōtautahi Christchurch by the Sailors of Te Taua Moana o Aotearoa, in commemoration of the whanaungatanga between the Navy and the City following the earthquake of 22 February 2011.’"
