Japanese Society Hanami picnic
Japanese Society Hanami picnic
Japanese Sakura Picnic at the Kurashiki Garden at Halswell Quarry Park.
Contributors note: "This photo was taken in September 2025. To celebrate spring, a traditional Japanese Sakura Picnic was organised by the Christchurch–Kurashiki Sister City Committee and the Japanese Society of Canterbury at Halswell Quarry Park. Japanese stalls were set up beneath the cherry blossoms, creating the delightful impression of being at a festival in Japan. Traditional Japanese performances added to the festive atmosphere, as people from many cultures came together to embrace Japanese traditions and enjoy the celebration beneath the “sakura.”."
