George Thomas Hawker from New Brighton, known as 'The Father of New Brighton'.
"My great-grandfather lived much of his life in New Brighton and had a major hand in the area's advancement. He died in 1924 after being struck by a car as he crossed the road. There is a plaque with his name on it outside the New Brighton Library." - Contributor's note
