Elephant race near Papanui Shopping Centre
Elephant race along a main street near Papanui Shopping Centre during a fundraiser for intellectually disabled children. The riders are Mrs Valerie Young (leading), followed by Mr Martin Hobby a Waimairi County councillor and Mr Colin Curragh president of the Canterbury Intellectually Handicapped Children's Society. Mrs Valerie Young goes on to win the race.
