Able Seaman Daniel Douglas being presented with an award
Governor-General, Sir David Beattie, presenting Abel Seaman Daniel Douglas with the Charles Upham Award for bravery. Douglas received the award for rescuing a drowning officer in heavy surf near the Tokelau Islands. The award was presented during the official opening of the Charles Upham lounge at the Christchurch RSA.
