R.G. Morris, manager of Hornby Mall, placing angels on a Christmas tree as part of a programme in collaboration with the Mall Merchants Association. Children are invited to write an angel and hang it on the tree. Shoppers in the mall are encouraged to buy a present to match the information. The presents are then distributed to disadvantaged children in and around Christchurch.
