Sapper Willie Ngatai from the engineers squadron Ready Reaction Force at Burnham Military Camp, building a mini Krypton Factor assault course at Aranui High School. Students raised money for the course to be built as part of the school's outdoor and physical education programme.

In Sept. 1914 the Mounted Regiment, Canterbury Contingent, rode from Sockburn Camp to Port Lyttelton where they boarded transport ships and went to fight in the First World War. The photograph shows them pausing to water their horses in the Avon River
