James Huston
James Huston
"James Huston, had 10 children and 20 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. The grandchildren were born into other Lyttelton families, Serison, Harkess, Wells and Judge. The Hustons lived in Cornwall Road where James carried a bag (sack) of either sugar or flour on his back from the Grocery Store to home at 28 Winchester Street. He saved 650 gold sovereigns to purchase that house in 1905. His daughter Linda Soughagy recalled it was her job every Saturday to scrub the 15 steps from the gate to the house." - Contributor's note
