University of Christchurch student, Damien Martin, piloting a papier mache aircraft on the back of a truck called the RNZAF Skypork at the head of the capping procession on Cashel Street heading towards the central city.

The Canterbury University College pipe band on capping day. The band marches from Cathedral square down Worcester street whilst Gordon Ogilvie ( far right) keeps time. He was later Band master for St Andrews college, 1969-93.
